The X Games is an annual sports event, that takes place over multiple days, which focuses on extreme sports. Participants compete to win bronze, silver, and gold medals, as well as prize money. The competition has always been known to feature new tricks in skateboarding, freestyle motocross and BMX. They are hosted by ESPN, have big name sponsors like Red Bull, top tier athletes and thousands of fans in attendance.
X Games is the ultimate sports experience. The way X Games is set up is always incredible to see. Vert ramps side by side with skate parks and arenas filled with dirt courses for motocross. To photograph X Games you have to have lenses of all different sizes and durable cameras. You get close to the action and can shoot right below the motocross athletes as they fly high into the arena sky. You have to be quick and ready as a trick can take place in milliseconds. Media is provided with RedBull all day, every day. Even without the RedBull, X Games is a rush.
Capra Photography shot X Games for Examiner.com. All photos were featured by writers and AEG Examiner during the games. This allowed for coverage of various sports and some inside looks at the press room and the moments before the athletes took flight as they waited by the courses. Images were uploaded after each event in the media room, as the news of each winner went viral quickly. Athletes would head down to the press room after winning a medal and those exclusive shots we distributed immediately. The images covered at least one major event from each sport and special moments like the Hot Wheels Loop!
